Everything's Better Deep-Fried...

Drawing inspiration from a favorite website (click HERE), our chef Hugh (with considerable cajoling from us) conducted a scientific/culinary experiment at lunch. A cadbury egg, rolled in an egg wash, battered with pancake mix, deep fried then drizzled with cocoa powder and shaved coconut. All I can say is that it was worth the years it took off of our lives...

Homily of Pope Benedict for Chrism Mass...

Check out Pope Benedict's homily from this year's Chrism Mass, reflecting on the priesthood. Click HERE

Good Friday...

Just getting back from across the street (Basilica Shrine of the Immaculate Conception) and the Good Friday Solemn Commemoration of the Passion, celebrated by Papal Nuncio Archbishop Sambi, in the presence of Cardinal Baum, who attended in choir. A good number of priests there (faculty and students of the university), about 50 I'd say. I'll be attending Easter Vigil there tomorrow evening, then subdeacon for another Solemn High Mass for Easter Sunday at St. John's in Virginia, and then Easter dinner with the family of a priest friend. Busy, busy...

Solemn High Mass of Palm Sunday...

Just back from today's Mass at St. John's in Virginia. First Solemn High Mass that I've participated in for over 12 years, and first as Subdeacon. All-in-all it went pretty well. Well enough that we're going to do it again next Sunday. Two solemn high's in a row... it's almost too much! Here's some pics:

Smithsonian Exhibit at Dulles Airport...

I had the afternoon free, so I joined Katie and Branum and we drove out to the Smithsonian Air and Space museum at Dulles airport here in DC. I was very impressed. While it's a bit of a hassle getting all the way out to Dulles from CUA (the Metro doesn't go out that far...), it is VERY well worth it. There are some very cool exhibits. Here's a few pics:

So, you want to learn Latin...?

Thanks to a classmate (Fr. Chris) for passing this along. I hope my Latin professor doesn't come across this and get any ideas...!

Words can't express...

In honor of our bowling last night... I'm pretty sure that there are no words to describe what you are about to see here. It might possibly be the highest form of art yet discovered by man.
